If you follow this link you will be taken to a Borderlands skill calculator!!! There was a site just like this one that I used for Diablo 2 constantly back in the day. This tool will let you allocate points into the skill trees for each of the classes in Borderlands. It shows the bonuses for each skill point, so you can now create builds ahead of time before the game is released.
The level cap is 50 and you have 45 points to spend as you hit your max level. You can only move down a skill tier in each tree if you have at least 5 points spread out between the two skills in the above tier.
My builds so far:
Bradass: A Soldier class with a strong, rocket spitting turret with a fast cool-down and that has some very useful support abilities.
Bunches o' Punches: A Bruiser class with lots and lots of punching. Keep me healed bitches!
I still don't know where I'm going with the Siren. She has good skills, but some are not placed in the right trees IMO. For example, I like Venom and Intuition, but I feel they belong in the Assassin skill tree. I don't want to invest in the elemental tree in order to get to these.
So what build will you make?

Thanks for the link Brad.
I was thinking, a Hunter specializing in the sniper and gunslinger trees, and absolutely nothing in the pet tree. This is making me want this game more than I previously did.

Yikes.
Bruiser and Hunter seem overpowered in this game.

Hmmm....i may go solider and spec in Support and Healing. Rocket shooting turrets are nice, but a healing and shooting turret makes me happy :)

this is the build I am going for, I prefer passive skills and auto trigger skills alot more than activated skills, that way I can focus on my job of shooting people and less about if my skill is charged yet.

I don't know to much about the classes so I just choose soldier. The Scorpio Turrent looked important since it was everywhere on the skill lists. Here's my layout.

My build for Siren revolves around the ability to phase walk longer and more often to escape danger as well as focus on large quantities of damage with melee. I also maxed out firing speed boost to accompany the elemental chance boost in-case I can't approach an enemy. Down side is that my defense will be very low, and prone to easy deaths.
I'm gonna start a thread, so people can describe their build in more depth rather than do it here.

I'm thinkin a pistol specced hunter would be pretty powerful and ah loves me dem pistols.

Good builds Brad. Your Bradass builds is a nice mix of damage and support, where your Bunches o’ Punches build is all hardcore damage.
I'm trying to go for a crowd control style hunter. Here's what I have so far.
http://talent.87bazillion.com/hunter.php?530520543035055000000
The two key talents are Aerial Impact and Bird of Prey. With these two talents, every time I spam the bloodwing, 6 enemies'll be stunned. Also I headed down the Sniper tree as fast as possible to get Trespass. No more shields for the enemy, sounds like a good idea to me.
Let me know what ya thing of my build.

i'm going to be tinkering with these systems forever *_*

Unstoppable killing machine (Berserker)
http://talent.87bazillion.com/brick.php?550505555050050000000
I'm not sure how sting like a bee works so I didn't put points into it. I'm not sure if I dash 20 feet each punch or if it's optional, because that's annoying.
Power Healer (Soldier)
http://talent.87bazillion.com/soldier.php?500505005000000555505
Took talents that increased bullet damage, magazine size, recoil reduction, and support for an efficient machine gun healer.
Offensive Soldier
http://talent.87bazillion.com/soldier.php?555500550055500000000
This chart heavily increases the DPS of the sentry and gives great shotgun damage as well with the defense talent to keep you in the fight.
Single Target burst with Offensive support (Siren)
http://talent.87bazillion.com/siren.php?055450500000005105055
The build is designed for frequent use of Phasewalk and offers huge melee damage burst with talents that help you get away and stay helpful with Mind Games.

I think you should be able to keep yourself alive and nearly always phasewalking with this build. Whilst in phasewalk you will be invisible so it should be easy to get in there for the melee attacks.

Deploy and revive make a great combo.

Thank you for the link Brad, this is great!
I choose a Soldier build, with attention given to shotguns and assult riffles (which I will more than likely use the most), skills that protect the soldier, and the skill to heal. I call the class "Angel of Death".

Noice.
I chose a Siren to focus on Phasewalk, mostly because I'm always a Stealth type of person.
With insanely quick Phasewalk cooldown and crits and AoE involving Phasewalk itself. Also has defensive capabilities tied in with Phasewalk.
I'm tempted to call her the 'Drive-By'. Hitting and running is what I'll be doing.

Got the godly healing bullets, with a full Infantry tree and extra ammo for me and my teammates when they need it. I do feel like it's a bit too generic though.

Oh man... time for the builds to be assembled
http://talent.87bazillion.com/hunter.php?050555550550050000000
for hunter possibly... focusing on sniper / bloodwing
+20% sniper dmg
+70% sniper capacity
+5 bullet dmg
+shield penetration
-4 sec to bloodwing c/d per sniper shot
-40% reload speed for all wpn's
+100% bloodwing dmg
+40% bloodwing speed
+35% bloodwing life steal
+5 more attacks from bloodwing per use
killing an enemy:
+40% damage and -30% reload speed (up to 70% stacking with fast hands) with all guns for a few seconds
depending on the range of bloodwing, this can be tricky, the flaw can be that you're far away sniping and you're not close enough to bloodwing, or you're up close to use bloodwing but you're too close to snipe, which only makes each tree useful in one situation instead of having both trees useful in all situations. Or you can snipe, and when you need to heal you use bloodwing, since it attacks 6x at double damage, and heals you for 35% of the damage, it would be 35% of 1200% bloodwing dmg, so if it does 100 base damage, and it does double damage and attacks 6 times, that'll be 1200, so that'll heal you for 420. I don't know how big those numbers are relatively, but then again, just playing around with a build...

Pure Sniper.
I call it One-Shot Head-Shot.
15 years, 1 month ago
My build: A hunter that focuses on sniper and gunslinger tree.
My hunter is a really effective close combat focused character with deadly sniper skills, as much as I think it would be the most awesomest thing to have a pet in this game, it didn't really interest me since the pet is just another ranged attack, preformed by you.
