3469959716_0ee10c5662_bWe all know I've been obsessing over Bayonetta ever since I played it at E3 this year. But people often ask me in chat: "What will you do if the game is bad?" or "What if you are getting so hyped that the game won't live up to your expectations?" I usually tell these people that this is not possible, for it is a game from the great Hideki Kamiya (Okami, DMC, VJoe), and that what I have already played of it is too amazing to be from a bad game. Well I have some bad news.

The bad news is that Famitsu Magazine has watered down the worth of its perfect 40/40 score by giving out so many in the past few years. The last Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest game got perfect scores? Surprising!

Well, Bayonetta still had to be scored, so the game of course received four 10's in Famitsu Magazine. This makes Bayonetta the 12th game to ever receive a perfect score from the (in)famed Japanese publication. Well, at least we can say Bayonetta is not a Square Enix game, and that it probably does not have a Famitsu branded quest. That counts for something right?

Other scores.

I guess that the Famitsu review for Bayonetta could raise more gamers' (especially hardcore types) enthusiasm, and I'm kinda happy that it got the score it deserves. And you're probably right that it's not a Squeenix brand game, because it's made by a gaming company that pulls all the unexpected awesome-ness that we love. Let's hope that people won't get the idea that this game looks "meh-ish" or possibly "over-rated" by the 40/40 Famitsu score, and let them experience the game themselves.

Pretty much said the same thing on the forums topic, but Famitsu's opinion is nothing special.

It's worth pointing out that 6 of the 12 games that have gotten a perfect 10/10 score were in the last 2 years.

It's cool to see Bayonetta getting a perfect, but recently that's lost a lot of it's prestige.

Well, we at least know, no matter the score, that Elizabeth Hurley would make a damn fine Bayonetta.

I think we all saw this coming. The question is will Sega capitalize on the game's awesomeness with an ad campaign which will sway the "Durrr, DMC clone!" crowd? =

Only time will tell of course... I think simply being associated with Sega puts Bayonetta at a disadvantage as I think there's still a stigma linked to the Sega name (Thanks a lot Sonic team! >:C ).

Lets hope we don't have another Valkyria Chronicles repeat on our hands...

hmmm Bayonetta is surprisingly different from the button masher of the devil may cry series..(sorry to all dmc fanboys +)

I thinks that bayonetta is a new style of intense action games that has a sort of cinematic complexity to it... if you dont belive me then just look at the beyonetta combo vids where you have complex button pushes for the combos...

just at how brad analyzed the combos being used in the trailers i could see that the game is no ordinary button masher.

then we get to the visuals of the game which are stunning also ... the game delivers great graphics with flashy and intricate combos..

also this game seems to have the elements of a good storyline (in the trailers that i saw)

TOO BAD I HAVE A PS3 so i would have to get the crappy sega port.... sigh* (but all in all a good game rite???

Yes, I fairly recently made a post about a loss of Famitsu integrity.

With that said, all their 40/40 games are, from what I understand, good games. I'm simply posting about its first review score.

Bottom line is, a 40/40 from Famitsu is still better than a 32/40 or a much less impressive score.

It's all up to Sega's marketing of the game now and with previous efforts such as the whole Yakuza series, Madworld, and Valkyria this game is more than likely going to trainwreck saleswise in the U.S. Kind of sad really considering this review actually has me interested in this game now.
