This is the video game equivalent:
These trailers were released less than a day apart and both focus on the Ferrari 458 Italia going around some beautiful tracks—an interesting coincidence. Hopefully, more information about Gran Turismo 5 will come out of the Tokyo Game Show this week, with Forza 3's demo hitting on the 24th.

Both games look great on their respective consoles. Assuming that the GT5 Trailer isn't 100% CG it seems to be edging ahead in visual prowess. Though I think the recent turn into "simulation" racing game instead of "entertainment" racing has turned me off of these games. I think the whole racing scene emitted a sense of freedom, something that Burnout Takedown presented in it's crash modes, Burnout Paradise presented in it's exploration, and Need For Speed against the law in their Police chases. At least, that's the memories I used to enjoy in racing and cars. I honestly don't know how Twisted Metal coming out on PS3 will fit in on all this but we'll see just like anything. Keepin' eye out.

I'm still looking foward to GT5 no matter what. It's gonna be mind blowing and time consumming. I just hope I can get the car I want in it, not that the ferrari is not a must ;)

That GT5 trailer sent tingles down my spine.
I ended up so massively wrapped up in GT3 and GT4, much more so than in Forza 1 or 2.
I'll still pick up both, but I have a suspicion that GT5 will steal all of my attention.

@xezuru: I don't believe it is CG but something the replay engine is capable of. Of course though, it won't look that good in gameplay (the LOD is insane on some parts).
@raiden: Yeah, they are planning to do new DLC every month for a year after the release of Forza 3. The 458 Italia is going to be in the December pack, I believe.

the second video is way better

i disagree xezuru, thats going to make GT5 like watching a cinematic from Halo Wars and expecting the graphics to be the same for gameplay. I appreciate Forza for not glorifying their graphics, but rather what you see is what you get.

Gran Turismo promotional videos have always had a way of making you believe there's no POSSIBLE way the game could look that good, but it always ends up as so. In the GT5 video I believe everything after 46 seconds (save the interior of the car shot) is all the in-game engine.
The replay mode in GT4 was capable of many of the features you see in the video. Sepia tones, depth of field, motion blur. The GT5 demo (Prologue) shown all these features and HDR (High Dynamic Range lighting) on top of that realtime reflections and self shadows. The thing is that isn't even the most incredible part of Gran Turismo. The game itself plays just as beautiful as it looks.
I own all of the Gran Turismo games (except Prologue, because even I wouldn't buy a glorified demo with only 50 cars for the price of a full priced game) and own Forza Motorsport. To me GT is just better in all regards. Maybe I'm bias for years of incredible games, but I just couldn't get into Forza.

It's best to watch them both at the same time. They are almost identical, both start out showing the Ferrari symbol, then the electronica music comes in, cars start going on the track with tons of angled shots, done.
Both games like damn great though. I haven't played a GT game since Gran Turismo 2, so I'm kinda excited for this one. Forza I've played both, and the simulation in that game is a little too much for me.
