Sadly, the story is true. MercurySteam is using Kojima Productions as "life support", in which Kojima won't do a damn thing but as a cheerleader. And as AVGN would say, "It's like putting sprinkles on top of a shit turd."

It's funny that you can not give these guys a break for nothing. One shit game doesn't mean they're doomed for life.I mean yes it's Castlevania which is a series I love as well but to talk shit about them every minute you can just because they are making the game is ridiculous. Also about the them making it a God Of War clone is really funny. I mean how can they do a great Castlevania game today? I mean don't you think any developer out there would of did the same thing. Really it's a stupid way to go off on these guys because of that. Plus like someone said that “Symphony Of The Night” got it’s style from “Metroid”. Does that somehow lessen it’s greatness?" I just think you getting all up in arms about them making the game is ridiculous. So they made a bad game. Many other developers has had the same luck with making a shitty game, Just settle down and wait for more info about it and then like I always say, you have no room to bitch about a game if you haven't even played it yet.

Brad, I just lost a little respect for you. Give the damn developer a chance. If it comes out and it sucks, then trash it. I will listen whole heartedly and have a civilized discussion with you on the podcast once that happens. But until then, give the guys a break and give them a chance to prove themselves... then.... THEN.... if they fail.... SHIT ALL OVER THEM....i won't care. The game looks solid but I think you are so blinded with rage that you refuse to see that.

well i don't know, Jericho looked solid when i saw the trailer but when i played it, it wasn't as good as it looked so im kinda worried if this game will really be a "Castlevania" game

Guys. Let's just forget it. Scrap "Lords Of Shadow". Let's get "Castlevania: Judgement pt.2" instead. Remember how much we loved that game? That Igarashi...man...he managed to fuck up making a 3-D "Castlevania" three times in a row,but we can give him another shot right? Mercury Steam only put out ONE bad out of TWO in their entire catalog, but they don't deserve to be given the same benefit of the doubt because they're from Madrid. If a game is not developed in Japan,it's garbage. You may stop your inner monologue,no good game has EVER come from a western-based studio.
I mean,we wouldn't want Konami and Kojima Productions, who realized how big a piece of shit "Jericho" supposedly was,to tarnish their names by by knowingly putting out a terrible project, because that's perfectly feasible.

Yeah, Mercury Steam did not make the best games ever, but I think Brad's being harsh on these guys. Think about it. You can always have a chance to redeem yourself, no matter how many times you fail. Yes, I know Brad hates Jericho, and I've never played it, so I have no objections to that. But can one huge failure result in one's failure for an eternity? I don't think so, but that's just me.

Pretty much have to agree with Nick here. Not to mention the ranting on Mercurysteam is getting old and annoying. One bad game does not make all of their UNRELEASED games bad.

Vertigo do you know what your talking about Koji Igarashi made 3d Castlevania on the ps2 everyone loved scores of 8.5 and 9.2 out of 10 man. Brad has a reason to fear that Mercury steam could fuck up. They have put out two games one that was okay and the other that was a horseshit with sugar coating graphics

I can give mercury steam another chance sure , but just not with Castlevania one of the most respected game franchises . So I can see why Brad is so upset .

I think Nick can't really presume to tell Brad not to worry about Mercury putting out the next Castlevania because Nick and Brad simply don't have the same level of investment. Nick is unserious about Castlevania, has admitted in the past that he doesn't really care about any of the previous Castlevania games, and therefore has no real investment in whether the game turns out good or not. If the game is good, he'll like it and if the game is bad, he'll ignore it. He is completely ignoring the fact that not everyone is as blase about Castlevania as he is, that there are actually serious fans out there like Brad who actually care about the fate of the series, about the possible endangerment of the future of the series if a bad game comes out next in its already fragile and uncertain future.
I think it's okay for Nick to be unserious about Castlevania, since he never really cared or had any investment of the series; but it is indeed presumptuous and not OK for him to tell serious gamers like Brad that it ought to be a matter of indifference to him and that he ought not to worry that all the evidence is preponderantly suggesting that the future is not bright for Castlevania. Because come on, the developers of Jericho, people? Doing an a-list series? There is a remote possibility of success, but should a genuinely invested fan like Brad be satisfied with a "remote possibility", such as an indifferent gamer such as Nick would be?

I'm not one to normally play shitty games. I have a friend who plays some of the shittiest games alive and likes them. I'm not one of those. In this case its a different story. I'm glad the developers of previous Castlevanias are losing the project. I like Lament of Innocense but realize its faults. Curse of Darkness was just plain lowsey. They don't deserve to destroy the castlevania name anymore. On the other hand a different friend lent me Jerico, I never would have purchased it but as a rental I loved it. I played through it 1.5 times. I started the second time to whore some achievements but I don't usually play games more than once so it got old and I returned it but I truly enjoyed the first time through. I think this game looks awesome and don't think they will do any worse than previous 3D castlevania developers but ya, tacking KOJIMA on the label is kinda dirty.
