I don't wanna be one to jump on speculation because this story could be entirely fake. Of course, any shred of truth in this rumor would prove to be the most interesting thing to happen to Tomb Raider... ever. According to higher ups at Crystal Dynamics, the team is working on a reboot of a AAA franchise and this rumor certainly seems to fit the bill. If this is real, Lara seems to have a new look, the world seems to be a bit darker, but most interesting of all is the possibility of an open world Tomb Raider. Yes please. Hopefully some hard facts will come to light in the near future.
The source seems to indicate the following:
- Revamped combat system
- Open world island setting
- Story will restart from scratch and chronicle Lara's transformation into the Tomb Raider we know and love
- Hunting and survival gameplay
Can't wait to see what happens next because Underworld was one of my favorite games of last year!

Second official reboot. Makes you wonder why they just don't scrap the character and introduce someone 'new' rather than rehash her origin story over-and-over, doesn't it?

It sounds like it could work and I'd love to see how it turns out. If it's true, that is.

I love the idea of open world, i'm not sure i like the emphasis on survival-horror.
People always talk about killing the franchise for the sake that they are bored or that the franchise has not evolved. To those i only have to say: aren't all sick and tired of all those fps or 3rd person gun killing same-old-same-old games out there.
Games like TR where you have to explore and use a little of your brain are extremely rare. Actually, i ask people who are bored w TR to name me just 5-6 well known games that uses exploration more than killing?
