So I have a question to ask everyone. It may seem stupid and I should have better things to do -- but fuck you, mind your own business.

I own a PSP and a DS. I own lots of games for these systems. Both are also modded. I've decided that I do want to play a traditional JRPG on the go. So here is the problem.

Which do I choose?

1. An old RPG that I have played through (and enjoyed) before. Something I know is great -- but a game I have not played in ages. I know I will not be let down by the experience, and there could be a chance I will appreciate the game even more, but I worry of the feeling it is a waste of time. Also, there is the possibility that I may come to realize much of my love for the particular game is soaked in nostalgia.

2. An old RPG that I have NOT played before, albeit one that is critically acclaimed. The real issue here is I may be choosing a game that "I had to be there" to enjoy -- a game potentially put up on a pedestal by some elses nostalgia. I could end up with a poorly translated story and a game with dated mechanics I'm not able to forgive.

3. A modern, and most likely, mediocre RPG. This would decidedly be the most "dangerous" choice, as it seems most games in this genre are not great until they have been out for a decade. My problem with choosing a game from this era is that it might further reinforce my belief that the JRPG genre is in the shitter this generation. Then again, fucking up with a choice from one of the other categories could be more troublesome, as an un-enjoyable experience there would probably convince me that the entire genre has always sucked.

4. Lumines. This choice is not supposed to be here, but fuck if I'm not a realist.

I know many who are reading this already have an answer they are working out in their head. Especially the nerd in the brown shirt. Yes, you. I must make it clear that your time and effort thinking of an answer has been a waste, as I never have time to play my handhelds.

Thanks anyway,
Brad
