I have been keeping my eyes on both Infamous and Prototype. They are very similar in concept and gameplay structure yet they both seem like they will offer a unique style of gameplay to the player. Infamous seems heavily focused on platforming with a very focused set of abilities (electricity) and Prototype seems set on over-the-top destruction and gore. I am incredibly excited to have two new open world titles hitting within a month of each other, hell I pre-ordered Protoype over a year ago when it was revealed in Gameinformer. However, I have been worrying a lot about mission variety in both games. We all know that open-world games seem to have trouble engaging the player with new mission types. I was at least comforted a little bit to see this new trailer for Prototype that describes the various mission structures. It doesn't look like there will be a whole lot of variety but the missions do look fun and I can't wait to get my hands on the game in June.
