FRAK! Why doesn't this genre exist anymore? I need your help!

Why am I looking for this game? I just finished a really great show and now I'm sad and want more. I want a free roaming 3d space shooter -- a game that lets me feel as if I'm in a dogfight from Battlestar Galactica. They actually made a game in this genre based on the BSG IP, but it's based on the cheesy original show from the 70s.

Guidelines:

1. No big IP like Star Wars or Star Trek. A game like this will just pull me out of the fantasy I'm trying to construct in my head(pants).

2. Has to be on consoles. I need to be able to broadcast the game; so it needs to be on consoles.

3. No older than last console generation. I don't want it to looks like poo. Dreamcast may be acceptable as long as the game doesn't control like shit.

4. No rail shooters. I have to be able to fly around willy nilly. Meaning nothing like Star Fox.

5. No robot suits! If I wanted to play a mech game... I'd pop in my copy of ZoE 2.

I realize this game might not exist based on my set of rules. Just give me your ideas as close to the set guidelines. BUT NO PC GAMES!<
