So I've spent the majority of the last few days making phone calls and emails to companies that will be at E3 this year. I'd have to say that is has been an extremely interesting and learning process.
First off, it's hard not to get discouraged. Being passed off to other PR people. Leaving tons of messages and not getting a return. Talking to very unhelpful Receptionists. It's all part of the gig. As much as I've hated it, theses are the hoops you have to jump through. It's like showing how much you'll go through to get what you want.
On that thought, it hasn't been completely empty. We have gotten a few appointments with some bigger companies. I'm waiting to hear back from a few others. I do get this little fish in the big ocean with all the other huge fish feeling. I mean there are companies out there that hire another company to pick up the phone and filter through all those calls. I had to call a PR company for them to get me in contact with the original company just to tell me no. It's a really funny situation. I know it's completely necessary, but from the outside looking in, its absurd.
On a high note, the woman I talked to from Square-Enix, Emi, totally cute. There was something about her voice when she was giving me the E3 run around, there was something special there. It's like she was doing it just for me. Some may be saying, "You only talked to her on the phone, how do you know?"
A.) Well, I heard her speaking Japanese to some people in the background while looking up information for me. She has the voice of an Angel.
B.) It's SQUARE FUCKING ENIX. Everything they do is gorgeous. I can only imagine how their staff is. Freaking soft featured afeminite looking guys. Cute pale skinned women.
I'm going to call again just so I can be denied again. For E3, not by her.
I guess that's it for all my stories today. I needed to let off a little frustration. So thanks for listening.
Back to work,
David
