So I was expecting a Wii Zelda announcement, but the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for the Nintendo DS will have to do. Actually, I'm probably more pumped for another 2d Zelda game. This one is isometric right? RIGHT?
Phantom Hourglass was pretty good. The controls were great, and some of the dungeons and enemies were certainly clever, but I felt the game was missing something. I never got the true feeling of exploration or adventure because the boat travel was limited and tedious; and this is kind of why I'm worried about the new game.
It appears Link will be traveling via train in this game. This sounds even more limiting than boat in Phantom Hourglass. It also sounds like this sessions will be ripe with unwelcome rail shooter(tapper) sequences. No thanks.
And honestly? I'm kind of done with Toon Link. Sure his facial expressions are cute, but I want the series to evolve. I want some real emotion in there. Current Link just seems so empty and soulless.
And where is my Zelda RPG? Hook up with Square like you did back in the day with Mario Nintendo. I want something new!
Btw.. pic jacked from Joystiq.

Updated late-for-work-shower-thoughts:
This is Toon Link right? He only exists in a Windwaker world right? That means it's still a giant ocean. Unless of course the "train" is just a means for Link to get a a different time or location. Meaning maybe this isn't Link's main method of travel but instead sort of like the mirror in Link to the Past. This also means that Link could go back in time to when the world wasn't flooded with water and even have some other method of getting around! Like walking! Old school confirmed!
