GDC is an exciting time for game developers and gamers alike. Over the next few days, we wait as developers to gather and discuss their plans to use new technologies and methods to make the games of the future. We obviously expect some game announcements and other news relevant to the consumer. So far, a new Zelda has been announced and Ueda disappointed me again but something I have been waiting for has finally happened. Crytek has finally developed an iteration of their incredible cryengine that can be scaled to run on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Allow me to introduce "Cryengine 3":

Graphics Whores Unite! The thought of this technology running on a home console and not on a PC is blowing my mind. Far Cry 2 looked phenomenal but Crytek is still the king of ultra realism in game graphics. So this begs the question, is Crysis being developed for consoles? What better way to introduce this engine to consoles than using it to bring one of the best looking shooters ever to the PS3 and 360? I am patiently awaiting an announcement.
