If you never had the pleasure of playing through Chronicles of Riddick on the original xbox, stop reading this post right now and go do so.... immediately. Or you can wait a few months and play "Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena", a total HD remake of the original that is scheduled to hit stores in March. I know what you are thinking: its a licenced game based off of lackluster source material. But I can assure you, Riddick is probably the best licenced title ever. This is a bold statement but this game shares similar levels of polish and detail as Bioshock did and is equally as impressive in its presentation. The game is just good and despite what you may think about Vin Diesel, this character is a bad-ass. So why should you spend $60 on a remake of this game? Let me tell you:

- The original game was one of the best titles on the original xbox
- The game looked amazing for its time and deserves to be played in HD.
- This is the game that gave me the will to give licensed games a chance.

but most importantly...

-Starbreeze has added an entirely new campaign onto the original game! According to the developer (which I don't trust 100%) , the Assault on Dark Athena campaign will add 10 hours of gameplay and story onto the original "Escape from Butcher Bay" campaign.

When I first saw that they were remaking this game, my first emotion was disappointment because I would have preferred a sequel. However, the chance to play through the original game in HD and then continue that experience out into an entirely new campaign is even better. This game was off my radar but just found a way deprive me of my hard earned cash once again. I kind of wish the game wasn't the full $60 but a 20 hour experience that is as good as this is probably worth is. March is going to be a big month in gaming.
