Another big franchise has decided to move its main series to the Wii. This is no huge surprise since the still unreleased Dragon Quest 9 is a DS game.

I think what this actually reveals is that this franchise has always been on the console that sells the most. It was on the NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, DS, and now the Wii simply because they were the market leaders in Japan and usually the world. This convinces me that Enix has never wanted to get the most out of their series by putting it on the most powerful console, ad it seems it was probably always about money. What happened to developer pride? Well, maybe it wasn't always about money.

Oh wait. The main character in DQ8 could go Super Saiyan. Yes... always about money.

This is setting yet another dangerous precedent though. All bets are off and I think anything could end up on the Wii now. What's next for the Wii? A slightly better looking Kingdom Hearts 2? How about a slightly better looking Zone of the Enders 2? How about a slightly better looking Okami?

I'm just glad I'm not a big Dragon Quest fan. I know David wanted to see some change or evolution for this series. I just hope the inevitable waggle mini-games are enough for him.
