Thank you so much Cosmicfly for pointing this out to me. While I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a Dark Knight game from Pandemic, Eidos totally flanked me with their announcement of a brand new Batman game that looks to be something much more exciting. The cover story for september issue of Gameinformer introduces "Batman: Arkham Asylum", a dark story surrounding Batman and all of his most infamous rivals including the Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Riddler, Poison Ivy and more. The game is in development by Rocksteady Studios who's is known best for their game "Urban Chaos" and set to hit store shelves sometime in 2009.

I haven't gotten my hands on an issue of the magazine yet but some unconfirmed details have been posted onto a NeoGaf thread. None of the following has been confirmed but I wouldn't be surprised to find this information in the magazine later this month:

- Developer: Rocksteady Studios
- Publisher: Eidos
- Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, and PC
- The game is set in Arkham Asylum and will focus on making the world a dark, gritty "Riddick like" experience.
- The story is being pinned by Paul Dini who wrote Batman The Animated Series.
- Game will run on Unreal Engine 3
- Game will play through an over the shoulder perpective
- Allies will include commisioner Gordon and your radio contact throughout the game will be Barbara Gordon

For all the "Unconfirmed" details, check out the post at NeoGaf here: NeoGaf Thread

You can expect to hear a lot from me about this new title in the coming months. If you check out Rocksteady's Website you will see a 10 digit counter that looks to be counting down to some kind of announcement or possibly the release of the game. It looks to be a long wait for the game but i'm already excited.

Thank You Joystiq!
