This new video straight from the show floor at Pax demonstrates variety in Mirror's Edge. By variety, I mean that players will be free to find new paths to follow and new creative ways to navigate the environment. If you listened to our last Top 5 podcast then you know that this game is my number one most anticipated game of Fall 2008. The game still looks amazing but I definitely see a few potential flaws in the game. First of all, I would like to point some minor animation glitches and areas that just flat out dont seem to run smoothly. For instance, the sliding mechanic looks a bit strange if not performed perfectly and there was an instance where a group of pidgeons performed a very awkward animation. While the main idea behind this video is to demonstrate the various ways of navigating the environments, it seems like their wont be as much variety as they seem to imply. To me, variety would be whole new paths you could take to get from point A to point B but all they seem to show is different ways to parkour around the world. Hopefully, the game wont be as linear as I fear but I still have a lot of love for this game because of its bold art direction.
I cant wait to see more.
