So it's about 3:00 am on the 18Th and we just returned from seeing the Dark knight. I'm sure we will talk about all of our impressions on the podcast this week but I wanted to get some of my thoughts out there while the movie is still fresh on my mind. I'll start by saying that this is a beautifully crafted film that both builds on what made its predecessor a success and then goes on to surpass it. While I do feel the movie stumbled in a few places, the film never felt like it was dragging on. I won't spoil anything but this movie does what so many other super hero movies such as Spider-man 3 and Daredevil have failed at in regards to the way it handles its villains. Every performance was spot on and the movie has so many twists and turns that I would say it is impossible to go into this movie knowing whats going to happen.
In regards to Heath Ledger's performance, I must give the man props. He took this role and ran with it. He gave the joker a personality and a presence that is both comical and disturbing. His performance made this movie much darker in tone and set the groundwork for a much more mature Batman than anything we have seen in the past. At times, this movie scared me.
Ill end by saying that this is the first movie in a long time that has really kept me on the edge of my seat and left me in a daze by the time it came to an end. I can't wait to see it again tomorrow in Imax...
