I remember a similar type of game on Reading Rainbow. Or maybe it was some other show. Anyways.
I see:
a) A large red balloon.
b) A very large ripe tomato.
c) Taki's left jubble.
Answer at the bottom.
Ok. So I don't really play fighting games all that seriously anymore. I was pretty hardcore about Tekken years ago, but beyond that, I rarely dabble in the genre. I also firmly believe that unless you have people to play with, who want to take the game seriously, you should never buy a fighting game. Even with online play.
Well, this game comes very close to being that exception. I was overwhelmed last night playing it for the first time. You can spend hours and hours unlocking characters, stages, weapons, and CAS(create-a-soul) equipment. There is just an insane amount of options and challenges in this game. I could imagine spending more time just unlocking things Soul Calibur 4 than I would with a typical FPS game we see nowadays.
It could get very tedious just explaining everything I saw in the game last night. And since I have only scratched the surface of what Soul Calibur 4 has to offer, I will simply list a few pros and cons based on what I have played so far.
Pros:
- I love how you can change the outfits of the default characters. If you though Ivy was revealing before, wait till you see her in just her unmentionables.
- The Star Wars additions are just cool. Vader and Starkiller seemed weird for me at first; but when I played with them in their stages with Star Wars music in the background, they won me over.
- Sexy graphics
- Lots of jibble to the jubbles.
- Just the insane amount of options, modes, challenges, and unlocklables.
- Shura is a Cervantes clone. *happy face*
Cons:
- I hate how you can't change the weapon styles of the default characters, while you can do so if you create your own.
- The AI is terrible, overly annoying, and the game has limited difficulty options.
- The anime redesigns are just clone characters. And you can't changes their outfits.
- Ashlotte is an Astaroth clone. *sad face*
- Angol Fear is a Mina clone. *sad face*
- Almost too much to unlock.
- No KOS MOS items anymore I heard.
More impressions to come after I play more and go online.
