The news last year that Monster Hunter 3 was no longer being developed for the PS3 and was being moved to the Wii was certainly a shock to me. This was clearly a move made on money. The sad thing is Monster Hunter could have really sold a lot of PS3s in Japan.
Much like Monster Hunter, it has been confirmed today that two more franchises have been moved to the Wii. And both franchises were in dire need of dramatic improvements. ...But I guess we will get waggle instead. Way to go.
The first game announced was Tenchu 4 for the Wii. This series has arguably always had problems, with a total of about 6 or 7 entries. Even the first game garnered mixed reactions. But many people, myself included, always saw potential in this series. After all, what's a better fit to the stealth-action genre than a ninja game?
So it was very depressing to hear that the next installment is going to be a Wii game. Not because I don't think that a game cannot be good on the Wii. I think the Wii had a ton of good games. My problems are:
1. This series doesn't belong on the Wii.
2. The Wii is best suited to original IP that has been designed around the Wii's unique control scheme.
3. Putting a series like this on the Wii is usually a sign that the developer is after money instead of actually reviving a dying series.
4. It pains me to even think of a shitty looking Tenchu game with forced waggle.
The second game semi-confirmed was a 3d Castlevania game for the Wii. Everything I just said pretty much applies here. This pains me way more Tenchu though. I wanted so badly for Castlevania to get the 3d series it deserves. I guess it's not going to happen anytime soon. LOL it's even a shitty sequel to Curse of Darkness. LULZ it will probably even be running in the same engine. Hopefully this is just another shitty half-assed port. The Wii loves those.
Koji Igarashi has stated on MANY occasions his lack of interest in making a Castlevania for the Wii. I guess the money signs in Konami's eyes won out.
What-ever-the-fuck-ever, at least I still got my 2d Castlevania.
