We now stand a little more than a month away from the release of Rockstar's next big thing, Grand Theft Auto V.  It looks great and has plenty of potential.  However, we've been rather curious about GTA Online, the multiplayer component of September's juggernaut title.  Today, we wonder no more as a proper trailer has been unleashed upon the masses and man, does that look good.  What are you waiting for?  Click the play button!

As detailed in the video, much of what you seem to be able to do in GTA V will carry over to GTA Online.  Players will be able to pull of heists, participate in a vast assortment of extracurricular activities, purchase property and quite a bit more.  Traditional online modes such as deathmatch and racing will be returning but with one rather nice twist: a mission editor that allows you to customize your matches to your parameters.

Rockstar, rather than simply making GTA V Online, has decided to consider GTA Online a seperate product that's tied-in with the new game and will be treating it as such.  To that end, Rockstar promises regular updates with new content being added.  It also will not be launching day and date with GTA V, instead opening up to owners of the new title on October 1st (my birthday!).

What do you all think?  Impressed?

Impressed is a severe understatement. They don't make words for this feel.

I'm just confused about one thing...Wouldn't there just be massive player-killing if it's an open GTA world? What's stopping the players from just killing each other and the whole city be in anarchy?

I don't usually play many multiplayer games but this looks amazing, will definitely give this a try when I get it .

So you can play this without owning GTA V? If that's so, then I will probably skip the singleplayer titel and put all my time and money into this.
