Wolfenstein 3d was the first video game I ever played.  Really.  I remember sitting on my dad's lap at the age of six and watching in awe as he strode through the halls of Nazi-infested bunkers wiping out anyone who dared cross his path.  It was my first experience with id Software, a company that would go on to make some of the greatest games of all time.  Though I would go on to have mixed experiences with the followup titles Return to Castle Wolfenstein and the simply titled Wolfenstein from Raven Software, I'll never forget the great times I had with Wolf 3d and Spear of Destiny.

Today though Bethesda announced a sequel to the franchise, something I had not really anticipated happening after the mediocre 2009 title.  Wolfenstein: The New Order, set for release on PC, current gen and next generation consoles, abandons the World War II roots the series is known for in favor of an alternate universe 1960s, decades after Germany was successful on conquering most of the world.  Players will be in the familiar shoes of B.J. Blazkowicz and will be one of the leading members of a worldwide resistence against the Nazi regime.  Though specifics are not available as of press time, the trailer above seems to indicate a London setting.

The New Order will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Looks really interesting. I wonder if it will have all the paranormal elements. Since it's in the 60s, it would be really awesome if they dove into the hole Nazi UFO conspiracy.

Mediocre Raven title!? Damn you Chris! I love that game! Have I ever told you that I also loved Singularity? In fact, I would say that Raven is among my favorite "B Tier" developers of this generation.

I don't know how I feel about fighting robots instead of Nazis even though these are Nazi robots.

Wow looks awesome, I think something to add would be its being made by Machinegames a new company made by former members of Starbreeze studios, specifically key members that did the Chronicle of Riddick games.
