If there's one thing that can be said with absolutely certainty it is that zombie games aren't exactly a rarity these days.  With Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty and various other games out their touting their flesh-mongering recently deceased, it can be a bit hard to find a place in the gaming world.  For all the shooters  out there that beg you to aim for the head, Undead Lab's State of Decay is asking you to do something more: simulate the zombie apocalype.

One part Day Z, one Left 4 Dead and another part Dead Rising have coalesced into this rather unique zombie title that's had our attention since we first saw it at PAX Prime last year.  We've done a strong amount of coverage for the game in the past as you should be aware and our friends making the game up in Seattle invited our very own Mr. Joseph Christ to stop by and investigate the latest happenings with this rather interesting zombie simulator.  His impressions of the game are unfortunately embargoed until next week but that doesn't mean we can't bring you today's trailer.

Along with the footage you see above we now have a release window for the game: June.  This puts State of Decay up against another rather anticipated zombie apocalype title, The Last of Us, but this indie title certainly has potential and is well worth your attention.  Not convinced?  Check out this alpha build that we got to play at PAX East this past March below.

Good trailer. I've been keeping my eye on this game for quite a while. Can't wait for the release.

Looks awesome, though the idea of releasing it near a similar time one as last of us seems questionable to me.

Seems like a fun game, but it kinda seems like the combat was a bit bland(?) or not that satisfying. But most likely I will be picking it up when it comes out.
