I just got finished with the Majin the Forsaken Kingdom Demo. I picked the game to be My 2010 Sleeper Hit simply based on premise and visuals. While I still can't confidently say that it's going to be this Triple A fantastic quality game, I can at least say, from what I've played, it's looking hopeful.

One of the biggest things Majin has going for it is that no one is expecting Last Guardian. Honestly I don't care if the game is too simplistic, too easy, or even unoriginal. There's not enough developers making games like this so I'm just glad to have a non-shooter this holiday season. I'll just be happy if the game has good pacing, reasonable story structure, and non-frustrating combat. And maybe clever ideas thrown in the puzzle department.

But I think I might be looking at this title with Rose Tinted Goggles so maybe there's someone else that can give me their opinion? The Majin Demo is downloadable via Xbox Live Marketplace and it's a fairly small size. There's not THAT much going on in the demo but there's enough to get an idea how the game will play.

Your thoughts?

I have already played it and it seemed fun. I'm not sure if it was interesting enough to get me to buy the game, but it had some cool mechanics.

I played it and i found it intresting but kinda janky. I can't kill anyone by myself because enemies have so much health and i had to send the troll so he could pin guys down and I could jump on them.

It was fun, and I could see where the game is starting to go. The combat wasn't really the best. It felt almost like Enslaved in some ways but I do believe that the combat will get better later in the game. It has a lot of potential, I'm just hoping that the story and the connection between the two characters will be great because I believe that's the real lure of this game.

Played the demo a while back and was sold on everything except the gameplay. Way too clunky and uneventful for me, which was a shame.

The combat seems pretty lame, but at least its something different.

I just hope there is a lot more puzzles and a lot less combat. I hope for more stealth based levels than combat levels. Not really interested in the story. I think I'm going to play it just because there isn't much coming out and I don't feel like going into my backlog yet.

With such polished games based around combat (bayonetta, gow, dmc) this game is sluggish and unresponsive. The visual presentation is bland. The one thing that this game could have had going for it was the relationship between the monster and the man. He was boring (in the demo of course) and reminded me of my high functioning classmate in the 4th grade. I could forgive this game all of its technical faults if they could make the monster lovable and endearing. We shall see.

Apparently, they're not expecting this game to sell much (300,000 copies). They've also lowered the price from $60 to $40.

I found the fighting really disjointed. I felt no feedback when hitting the enemy. I might as well of been fighting the air. If it wasn't for the combat, which I admit I had a very bad time with. I probably would of picked this one up straight away. I will wait till its knocked down.

Loved the demo, the art style more than made up for the poor graphical fidelity. The Majins voice acting is poor at times but when you chat to him some lines were delivered in a lovely soulful manner. The protagonist is meant to feel weak, Majin is the muscle, you are the brains, its an escort mission with a difference. There is no doubt that as the Majins powers develop so will the variety in combat and puzzle scenarios, hopefully some of the latter will be taxing. Strangely enough I feel this game will be a bigger hit with older gamers, people who fondly remember the classic action adventures of yore..who are comfortable enough with themselves to enjoy a heartwarming and perhaps somewhat childish tale of friendship...I'm tired of reading the ''majin is a retard'' comments.

I played the game and it looks amazing .. the combat is pretty good in my tastes :? though the enemies are hard to kill sometimes... i like the fact that you can control majin and have him fight with you.. i would probably buy this game.... another thing i noticed is that when you level up you come close to becoming the thing you are fighting which i thought was pretty cool also.
