A new gameplay trailer for War in the North shows off some of the mechanics I was able to try out at E3 this year, particularly a giant Eagle named Beleram.  He is one of the major powers that you receive after you free him from capture. Once he is available you can call him in during battle, causing him to swoop down and do devastating attacks.  It's like being able to call AMERICA down on your enemies. In fact, I would implore everyone to scream "DELIVERY FROM AMERICA!" each time, like I was doing when I demoed the game. It strikes fear into the hearts of both your enemies, and those who are trying to play the game with you.

The trailer also shows off some of the slow-motion combat and limb dismemberment. Add into that advanced skill trees, a deep item system with common to rare items, and team support abilities for all characters, and you have a mighty fantastic game which will fill your pants with joyous goo.

My keyboard got all messy. Having a giant eagle as a pet/companion was just added as another bullet to why I should get this game.

    Why not?
Its not like LOTR is any different from any other fantasy universe these days.

I've got a major cooperative boner for this game. I've played and enjoyed Snowblind's other titles (Baulder's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath 1 + 2) so I've got high hopes for War in the North.

If you guys like MMOs, I'd suggest checking out LOTRO; it's free and you actually get to visit a lot of these areas mentioned in the trailer. Turbine did a great job of bringing the novels to life and exploring the world of middle earth, I just hope Snowblind can do the same.

This does interest me. And before someone asks, I believe they did show a flock of eagles in either the 2nd LotR Movie or the 3rd. I'll probably wait to see more footage before I spend my money.

    I love eagles.

Also, it's great to see characters from the book that weren't in the movies, like the Brown Wizard. Maybe we'll see Tom Bombadil? Although I don't know why the characters of the game might venture near his forest, that'd probably be a stretch...

Oh new games full o' fire n' flame
    Eagles make the goblins maimed

If I be in this it'd be groovy
Cause that fat fuck Jackson kept me out of the movie

I wanted this before just to run through with some buddies and fight some orcs. Now I get to call giant eagles to mess up some fools? You better believe I want this.

This might be the best upcoming game that no one (except here) is really talking about.

Oh god we very much need another LOTR action/rpg game! Played the crap out of the first two, so I have high hopes for what this one should bring.
