Regarding the Battlefield V “controversy”: I think DICE/EA are clearly pandering to the political climate. Cuz lets be honest, if they actually gave a shit about gender diversity and female representation, they wouldn’t have waited till Battlefield 1 to make this move. There would have already been female characters in their other Battlefield games years ago. They’re doing it now because it’s a timely hot-button topic that’ll likely draw attention to the game.

That said however, the Battlefield fans making a big hulabaloo about it is ridiculous. Like yeah, the marketing is super transparent and eye-roll worthy, but it’s not like it’s gonna effect the quality of the game any. It’ll still be Battlefield. I garuntee like 99% of the people complaining are still gonna buy the game because at the end of the day, they’re gonna want their little distraction from the real world.

Nick- I think if you are interested in Yakuza: play them on easy, mainline the story and I think they are 12-14 hour games (Yakuza 5 may have been a bit longer) Yeah there is some goofy fun side stuff you would miss, but as a lover of stories I think you will still get a lot out of the main stories. Its a great mafia soap opera.
