Nintendo Life gave Federation Force an 8/10, so it's gotta be good, right? :3

    Hey, ya'll,

Thanks for reading my comment last week about IP and their uses. One thing I forgot to mention was that the benefit of working in an already established world acts as a sort of short hand between the creator and audience. If I make something with the Sherlock Holmes name on it, you can assume that it will be a detective story starring a logic-loving investigator and his/her audience-surrogate partner. As a creator, working in other people's worlds gives me a base to build upon and as an audience member, it gives me expectations. I think this is why we so often see tribute games; it takes some of the work load off those creators.

That said, the breaking of expectations is often what I enjoy about fan-fiction or new takes on video games. Sometimes they're successful (like with Fallout 3), and sometimes the idea of them is just exciting (like with Breath of the Wild), and sometimes they're dreadful (like recent Castlevania games). While familiarity is comforting, I'd much rather have developers move onto new things after 2 or 3 games and give those old IPs to new developers so that they can break them in interesting, exciting ways.

Lastly, I am the creator of the Dark Souls rap and I have something special for ya'll: https://soundcloud.com/xarhini/4pp-community-track

Flattered to hear this silly thing brightened your day. Hope that things turn around for you soon.

One of the main reasons I wasn't quicker on making something like this is that, aside from breaks, ya'll never use segment music for anything else? That's fine of course, as this was made less with the intention of you guys actually using it and more as a joke response to a repeating joke.
