At long last, it seems Bioware is ready to unveil the "secret space project" with the new expansion Galactic Starfighter. This latest digital expansion to SWTOR is, surprisingly, completely free with subscribers and those with preferred status getting early access to the new content along with a few other perks. But what is Galactic Starfighter exactly suppose to be? It will be a 12v12 PvP match with free flying space combat. Players will also be able to customize their star fighters with different paint jobs and abilities for that extra feeling of uniqueness. This expansion will officially be free to everyone on February 4th.

As someone who jumped into SWTOR at launch, I can tell you all that there was quite a bit of disappointment with the game's space combat. An on rails shooter is nice to have for the sake of variety, but it seemed reminiscing about Star Fox only satisfied the community for a short time. Bioware was quick to clarify that the on rails space combat was just a place holder for a "super secret space project" that was not ready at launch. So, a little over two years after SWTOR launched, the project everyone was looking forward to will be a 12v12 PvP game type. I can already predict the amounts of rage that must be happening over on the SWTOR forums. That's not to say Bioware hasn't been working on this for the past 2+ years, they very well could have. After all the hype; however, people were just expecting more. Either way, this is still a better alternative to the on rails space missions SWTOR has had up until now.

Damn it, this just might be the thing that gets me back into SWTOR. I loved the Rouge Squadron and StarFighter games, not to mention the space battles from Battlefront. Plus I really want to finish at least ONE storyline in SWTOR before I give up the game completely.
