Video Game Cover Rundown: June 2013

You know, with a bunch of hot new releases this month, I was looking forward to doing these covers. Oh, how I was wrong. I was so very, very wrong. I don't know if Blood Dragon spoiled me, but man some of these were tough to get through. But enough of my blabbering, here's the art. 

Class of Heroes 2

Cute. I like the different character designs and weapons. Doesn't really add anything to hook any new fans in. And, that the background is probably just a stock photo doesn't help either.

Marvel Heroes

The plain black background is just horrible. Wish they could've showcased more characters instead of these handful.

Remember Me

God, I love this. Not only is this beautifully designed, it's also technically accurate. You play the character in third person. So, you're basically looking at her backside almost the entire time. What you see on this cover is EXACTLY what you see in the game. Brilliant!

State of Decay

This definitely works as an arcade cover. The out of focus and lens flare are a nice touch. Nothing extraordinary, but grabbing my interest.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Who the hell practices carpentry in the park? What a load of bullshit! Very adorable, though.

The Last of Us

I want to love this. I really do. It captures the dread and tension perfectly. It has a girl on the cover and in the foreground rather than the main character. Maybe it's me, but I just feel like it could've been better. I don't know if it's the angle, their expressions, the location, but something just doesn't click for me.
Coming off of the Animal Crossing game didn't help much either. Actually, now that I think about. This is actually pretty hilarious if you think what they're staring at is the Animal Crossing village.

Dark

Desmond Miles! What the hell are you doing here?

Game and Wario

I don't know who thought that Wario's psychotic grin would be great marketing, but hey Videogames!

Company of Heroes 2

This sucks ass compared to the first Company of Heroes cover. Horrible, moving on.

Deadpool

What is with Marvel and backgrounds this month. This plain white background is just so terrible. The bottom half almost has this sort of pulp vibe which doesn't look too bad, but I'm sorry the background is horrendous. There's nothing there. Very disappointing.

Project X Zone

The characters are easily recognizable and have a similar design style.
Not bad. Not bad at all.

Ride to Hell: Retribution

This is a mess for me. I don't know what's going on here, but I know it has motorcycles and fire. And possibly, motorcycles riding into fire.

The Sims 3: Island Paradise

I always liked that with the Sims expansion covers, they always showcase the many different items and features instead of some other expansions where you have no clue what's in it. This one is no exception.

Ok. Remember Me takes the number one spot for me. Last of Us, Animal Crossing, and State of Decay definitely get good marks. Some horrible backgrounds on a lot of the rest.
Unless there are some last minute additions, July looks to be a very short month. Still, there is Shin Megami Tensei IV and Time and Eternity, so we'll see.
