During Konami's Pre-E3 presser today a bombshell was dropped. Namely that David Hayter's exit as the voice of Snake has been written in stone, having been replaced by 24 and The Lost Boys actor Kiefer Sutherland.
Sutherland's appearance as Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 5 comes after months of speculation and second-guessing as to what in the hell happened to David Hayter in the roll. News first broke that Hayter was told via business lunch that he had been passed up for the roll this time around, which only led to speculation that the entire story was manufactured by Kojima as part of the MGS 5 PR blitz.
Now it looks like kojima was actually serious about this one.
I actually like the idea of Sutherland as the new voice of snake, and this really has nothing to do with the fact that I used to watch The Lost Boys religiously when I was growing up (has he been in anything else?). Sutherland is a seasoned actor who will certainly bring some experienced chops to the role. And if the below shot from IGN is any indication...We're in for good things.
Wait a moment...Kiefer Sutherland is taking over for David Hayter. In The Lost Boys Keifer Slutherlands character was named...DAVID!

Hard for me to be disappointed when Kiefer is one of my favorite actors. Would rather David Hayter, but Kiefer is a damn good choice in my opinion.

Eeehh. I guess I'll wait to see how well Sutherland handles the role before I say this was a stupid choice, but... it's David Hayter... I never thought that Hayter did anything but excellently as Snake. Besides, Hayter is an actor too! The Guyver 2: Dark Hero is... classic.

I'll probably still enjoy Mgs 5 but I will something missing when I get to play it.

I don't mind this this too much because I'm pretty sure he'll do a great job but I am still a little bummed about Hayter. I trust Kojima and, like many other people, have a feeling that we will see a younger Solid Snake in the game voiced by Hayter
