In an announcment that came completely out of nowhere, EA unveiled Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare at E3 today. Garden Warfare is a third person co-op shooter taking place in the PvZ universe that seems to utilize a class based system where each plant performs a certain role: melee, ranged, healer, etc. Players also retain the ability to place plants from the series around the map to give off the same vibe as the original game and give this new title a lane/tower defense feel. Now, I know a PvZ shooter seems very odd and out of place, but this gemaplay footage makes a good case for the game. This may even tie over fans of the series since PvZ 2 is exclusive to iOS. There was no release date mentioned at the conference, but Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is set to launch on the Xbox One and 360.
