Though in the Nintendo Direct video Satoru Iwata clarified that Mario Golf: World Tour still has "some time" until it releases, he wanted to take the time to whet gamers' respective appetites by elaborating upon the game's wireless multiplayer features.

The game's title comes from Nintendo's desire to bring gamers together all over the world, as any player with a wireless connection is capable of competing against any other player in the world through what appears to be a wide variety of customizable modes. Customization options listed in the video include traditional golf rules without special shots allowed, short courses at specific times, and hilariously, modes in which the only playable character is Luigi. Leaderboards and matchmaking features were also mentioned, as was local multiplayer.

You can expect to see Mario Golf: World Tour on shelves this summer.
