If you've been listening to our podcasts you know we've been talking about the dire straits the Wii U has been in lately. Poor sales, third party developers beginning to jump ship, and the loss of exclusives have proven to bring a difficult road to Nintendo's newest console. Not to mention a horrible name that should never have been greenlit from the beginning.

Sales have been particularly harsh, with the Wii U reportedly only selling around 55k units the same month the 7 year-old Xbox 360 sold around 280k, and retailers are obviously starting to take notice. Uk Retailers ShopTo and Asda are reportedly selling the unit for below base price by a good 20%. And though these cuts are only happening in the UK right now, Asda is a Walmart-owned retailer meaning that it really wouldn't be unheard of for those cuts to make it across the pond as well.

We discussed the possibility of a Wii U price cut on Cocktail Time LIVE last night, and though I stated with certainty that we would see cuts before the end of the year, I didn't expect to see them be retailer driven so fast. If retailers are beginning to lose faith in the system, Nintendo could be in bigger trouble than we thought.

"If retailers are beginning to lose faith in the system"

That's the question Joseph. One big retailer is bad enough, but if the others follow...

Nintendo is in deep, deep shit.

I kinda feel like Nintendo brought this upon themselves. There needs to be more support for third parties - and not the shovelware variety.

    Shocker.

I want a PSP more than a Wii U. Vita is also failing as memory cards are WAY OVERPRICED (making digital downloads less appealing) and the lack of PSP games for download are a bummer (No Crisis Core or Birth By Sleep). Also, Vita has no new and interesting games on it. Sly 4 and Persona 4 are the only reasons I'd want a Vita... still not enough to get me to actually buy one though. PSP 3000 FTW.

PS Vita and Wii U are the green thumb of the industry right now. And the next Xbox with the rumors surrounding it (no used games...) isn't looking pretty either...

    Well I'm scared.
