Borderlands 2 developer Gearbox revealed some upcoming new DLC for the game at their panel at PAX East today, including a new character and a level cap increase. I like to imagine that they tried to announce this while people in the crowd threw bricks at them, shouting, "This is for Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever, you bastards", but I doubt it happened like that.
The raised level cap will be available from April 2nd, and will raise the cap to 61. It will cost $4.99 unless you have the season pass, in which case you get it for free. The update will include new "Pearlescent" gear. A new difficulty mode called "Ultimate Vault Hunter" is also coming on April 2nd.
A new playable character has also been announced, and will be available in May for 800 Microsoft Points. The melee-based character, Krieg, is a psycho bandit, and he can regain health by attacking enemies.
This is all wonderful news for people who like Borderlands 2. However, I do wonder how many players managed to reach the level cap in the game without suffering from some sort of permanent brain damage brought on by unbearable levels of abject tedium. If nothing else, Krieg should offer an interesting new play style for the game.

Finally. It is mind boggling that it took this long for them to realize they needed to increase the level cap. I bought the Season Pass and haven't even finished the second DLC or started the 3rd one because it felt like I was wasting a ton of XP. Hopefully this will allow me to get back into the game I poured so much time into.
