Rise of the Triad Developer Diary Brings a Retro Style to the Modern World

How does a company actually go about re-visualizing a retro-world in modern times? This new developer diary from Interceptor Entertainment goes through the process in pretty good detail. I especially love the part about those old Wolfenstein 3D style secrets being brought back, and fully expect to spend a good chunk of my time humping every wall in the game looking for them. (Us old-time PC gamers still hear that “HUH UH UH UH UH UH UH” our sleep.)

There's a good balance between retro and contemporary design at play here as well. Some of the 'old ways' are gone for a reason, but there's still a lot of treasure to be found in these old titles; treasure whose value can only be extended when incorporated with the contemporary elements we have today. The guys at Interceptor seems to get this in a big, big way.

It's safe to say that we're excited about the re-release of ROTT. I molested ROTT PR Extrodinare Dave Oshry about it last PAX (you'll want to watch that), and I might even end up buttering him up with a massage or two for some preview code.

After he buys me my drink...that is.

Super excited for this game especially when I heard it was going to be only $15 on steam.
