Tomorrow is the big day for Sony to finally announce the specifics of the PlayStation 4, or at least that's what we're all betting on. Today however the rumors continue to fly, this time by the same internal -unnamed- source who leaked the codenames of the Durango and Orbis.

According to Kotaku this unnamed source is stating that the PlayStation 4 will be released this coming November and be available for a retail price of between $429 and $529 depending on the version you get. The source -again like we said unnamed so take this with as much salt as you can muster- didn't say specifically what the differences would be in the units at these prices but that all of it would be detailed primarily at E3 later this year.

The source is also claiming that the next PlayStation would be controllable in part using cell phones or tablets which would be similar to the SmartGlass system that Microsoft introduced to the Xbox 360 recently. Additionally. The PlayStation Network will be replaced with a network interface called PlayStation World and most of Sony's next generation online offering will only be available per subscription, much like Xbox Live now.

It should be no surprise that Sony would be moving to the XBL model. Microsoft has been far ahead of Sony for the entirety of this generation when it comes to Online, and one can surely argue that the influx of cashflow from offering it as a paid service has been a big part of that. To put it simply, you get what you pay for.

Sony especially must take great measures to solve the problems their current online offerings have experienced. Everything from hacking scandals, constant download updates and an practically invisible online component has done a lot to hold them back this generation. This will have to be solved once and for all with the PlayStation 4 if Sony intends to be a major player in the next decade.

As far as the retail pricing goes...I would expect this to change somewhat -and possibly lower- by the time Sony officially releases it. $529 is getting awfully close to the dreaded $599 that plagued the beginning of the PS3's life cycle, and I can't see Sony taking that chance again. It's more likely that those prices are either trial balloons or the result of internal communications within Sony. Take off $100 from each of those prices and I think that's a little closer to what we'll be seeing. There's also a big chance that Sony is waiting to see if Microsoft announces their pricing first, and then makes the move to undercut them as much as possible.

Interesting. It sucks that they're going to start charging for online services. I get why they would want to emulate Xbox, but the free online play was one of the main selling points that prompted me to buy a PS3 over a 360. Having to pay for online play seems like a crock to me. The whole 'controllable by your phone' thing seems like a gimmick, like how the Vita and the PS3 can sync up. It sounds good, but it's never really useful. I'm still enjoying my PS3 a lot and still have plenty of games to catch up on so this next gen Playstation really isn't something I'm terribly interested in in the short term. I'd be interested just how much of an improvement it will be over the PS3, which still looks damn good.

If Sony continues the freebies offered by PS+ and add in Gaikai game streaming service at "next to nothing" price, then I'm more likely to subscribe.

I'm not liking the console price as well. Also don't like the rumors that they are going to wait on M$ before announcing the price. Sounds like Sony is not confident their price point is going to make alot of gamers happy.

Using Kotaku as a "news" source is not a good idea, better to wait for real news tomorrow.

I don't see Sony charging as much for PS network as MS does for LIVE. LIVE is much more established at this point and probably smoother experience than the one found on PS. It's a bummer if they'll be charging more than $10/month.
