It seems as though THQ has just filed for Bankruptcy protection in the state of Delaware. The embattled publisher has been fighting an internal economic storm for some time now, with many of its gaming endeavors being shelved throughout the year. Many of THQ's less compelling -and economically viable- projects took the cut first, and as the company began to rethink the direction of popular franchises like Saints Row. Of course, this didn't sit well with gamers at all.

Things have been uncertain for the publisher for some time, and I've told those excited for future releases to be wary, but the publisher still has the chance to rebound with good titles coming their way.

If things do go completely south for the publisher it should be noted that many of its titles still hold good stock in the industry, and would most likely be picked up by other entities. As of today's statement however, THQ says that development on their currently announced titles will not be affected by the filing.

If they do go out of business, I hope Volition along with Saints Row goes to a proper home.

Worst part is, THQ's stock rose 40% after the Humble Bundle. I hope Saints Row 4, Metro: Last Light, and the South Park game helps them get out of financial crisis.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. I hope all the developers and their employes come out fine. Joseph you may want to mention and explain the "stalking horse bidder”.

I had a feeling this was coming after seeing the Humble Bundle and Merto 2033 being given away for free. With luck, they'll be able to pull themselves out or another company will buy them,

Have been looking forward to Company of Heroes 2. Hope this recent development doesn't mean that game will be lost in the gaming ether.

THQ do have some good looking games in the pipe line, I would be sad if they were to go.

I will be buying Metro Last Light and Company of heroes 2.

At the very least someone needs to buy up Volition. SAVE THE GEO-MOD TECH!

THQ is probably the largest publisher that I'm actually positive for. I hope things turn better for them. In the worst case scenario, I hope Relic lives on...
