Late last night, Team Meat made the announcement for their next game titled Mew-Genics. Apparently it's about cats.

Team Meat has not given any real details on this upcoming title, but Edmund McMillen had this to say about the project:

"Mew-Genics is by far the strangest project I've ever worked on.. and that's saying something. Tommy and i are very happy with how development has been going on it and decided that Mew-Genics will be the next official Team Meat game. We don't want to spoil too much here, but we can say the game will be randomly generated, strange and involve cats.

We are moving quite fast on it and should be able to start talking about platforms, more gameplay details and screen shots soon."

Randomly generated? Sounds like we've got another rogue-like on our hands. That, in all honesty, I'm okay with since Binding of Isaac was, overall, a very good game. It would seem Team Meat has become very comfortable with rogue-likes with a twisted sense of humor and I doubt this will be the last time Team Meat creates a game within the genre.

But what do the rest of you think? Are you excited for, possibly, another rogue-like by Team Meat? Were you hoping their next game would expand into a different genre? Let us know in the comments!

Is it strange that i'm kind of getting tired of this artstyle? Team Meat games have had really good humour and all, but i dunno...

I still enjoy Super Meat Boy so I'm looking forward to this game, and to see just what they plan on doing with this story.

Give me some gameplay and then I'll judge.

It's probably going to be a really cool and awesome game that I won't have much interest in playing but everyone else will and it'll take over Twitch kind of.

I'll have to see it, but I'm getting kinda sick of playing so many rogue-likes honestly. It really depends though. FTL was something new and surprising, so I'm hoping they do something great and unique with the gameplay.

I loved Super Meat Boy and the Binding of Isaac so I am interested to see what this new thing is about, though I hope it isn't too close to Isaac as I played that game to death. If it is too similar I could see myself passing on it. I really like the art style and it isn't wearing on me yet. I adore the meat boy cutscenes.
