Dragon age 3 inquisition

EA has today officially announced the third installment to the Dragon Age series is to be called Inquisition and be released late in 2013.

Speaking of the new project, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal Aaryn Flynn described a game created after pouring over fan feedback -much of it negative- of Dragon Age 2.  Inquisition, according to the release, will have bigger worlds, choices that actually matter and combat that's "tactical and visceral."

“The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now,” He said. “We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”

A bit of  surprising news contained in the release is that Bioware has been working with DICE  on this project, and Dragon Age 3 will be running on the Frostbite 2 engine.   “At the same time, we know we need new technology to truly make this vision become fully realized. And we’ve been working with DICE to make Frostbite 2 the foundation for the engine that is going to power Dragon Age 3.”

The Frostbite 2 engine is a beautiful engine, and will go a long way to create exceptionally large worlds for adventuring, but we all know that the cornerstone of the Frostbite  engine is its ability to add destructibility to environments. Having something like that in a Dragon Age game might be visually appealing -having a fireball spell miss the its target and fell a few trees certainly adds something - but it also makes me a bit cautious as to how the combat system might work this time around. It being so  visceral and all.

We'll have more as it comes.

Now I have more reasons to actually finish the second game. I stopped during the last act which apparently isn't very long, just got bogged down in companion quests. Bioware does at least have a history for catering to their fans so I remain tentatively hopeful they will remove the shit from "this is the new shit."

I'll hold my anticipation till I see more information, like if their still using the Mass Effect style conversation wheel.

Also, am I alone in my disappointment that nowadays people consider two years a long development time.

I am definitely looking forward to this game. I loved DA1 and DA2 had great characters and dialogue. I really enjoyed Me3, I actually cried at one point, so I really hope that Bioware puts all their talent to good use. Definitely looking forward to this game. The whole working with DICE thing makes me think that there is going to be some kind of MP to go along with the game.

"This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins"

A glimmer of hope for me, as my anticipation and outlook for this game is still sacred as hell.

I can't wait for the naked Norse God to fly out of the ground at the end and present your character with 3 choices that affect the universe.

But in all seriousness, I preferred Dragon Age: Origins more than the Mass Effect series. Seeing as how they had both followed a similar trend with regards to gameplay, I'm a little apprehensive. I think I might actually wait for it to come out this time. :P

It'll be decent, but rushed much like the last few titles Bioware's released.

I'll play it once then never want to go back.

Take as long as you want to make this Bioware. Hopefully EA learned their lesson when they forced them to rush DA2.

I am hopeful for the simple fact that the game has been in development for at least two years. That shows us that they are at least wanting to make something great again.

haha "choices that matter", ah that made me laugh. I'll wait for the 4pp audible impressions before I make my purchase.

i'd suggest a drinking game about press releases, taking a drink whenever somebody uses the word "visceral" but that would just make me sad, and then dead.
