Dead island riptide trailer

Dead Island: Riptide, the sequel to the 2011 original, now has its very first trailer. Oh, they grow up so fast! It seems just like yesterday that I was holding Deep Silver producer Sebastian Reichert in my arms as he whispered sweetness into my ears.

But here we are.

Entitled "When Hope Is Lost", this CGI trailer does bear some resemblance to the  original Dead Island trailer that catapulted that game from general obscurity to the top of everyone's wish list.  We are shown a couple saying their goodbyes  to each other in their final moments as the ravenous zombie horde is closing in.  Though a good trailer, it's also a tone that is fairly absent from the actual game, where grim and serious is a hard emotion to feel as numbers are flying out of zombies that are on fire.

Dead Island: Riptide will also be introducing a new character with a new skillset, a new hub system which must be defended, and an entirely new island to be slaying and running in.  According to the Deep Silver release, "With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide will reanimate the zombie terror in the original game. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation. Dynamic weather conditions will force the team members to adapt to changing visibility conditions. "

Having enjoyed the first one, I know I'll be dipping my toes into the waters of Dead Island again

I'm gob-smacked as to why they chose ANOTHER emotional trailer, that we know wont deliver because it's really besides the point .

Sadly, this trailer didn't connect with me as much as the first game.
Perhaps it's cuz there is no kid in the trailer or we know a little too much about what this game.

Completely beside the point of the game, but fuck it. Better than the usual BLAT BLAT EXPLOSION MONTAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY M. NIGHT SHAMANBAN

Though an actual plot wouldn't hurt the game, honestly

I'm curious as to how the boat ends up in the middle of a city; looks like a tsunami hit or something.

Am I the only one who thinks that if the lighter didn't work it would make the trailer even better?

IDK I thought it was a pretty bad ass trailer but I loved Dead Island so you know...that old familiar pickle...
