Bayonetta 2 Confirmed As Wii U Exclusive

Bayonetta 2, the sequel to Platinum Games' kinky action shoot-em-up, has been announced as a Wii U exclusive title at the Wii U conference today. The game will be published by Nintendo as opposed to Sega, who published the original game.

This is excellent news, particularly considering that the future of Bayonetta was in doubt after Sega was talking about "streamlining" their organisation in the face of financial losses. I would love to see Platinum Games' excellent Vanquish get a sequel as well, but apparently the team are working on a game called The Wonderful 101, also for the Wii U, alongside Bayonetta 2.

At the Wii U conference, it was revealed that the console will be launched in Europe on November 30th, 2012, while the U.S. release date is November 18th. Has the announcement of Bayonetta 2 convinced you to buy Nintendo's new console?

So Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U... I'm a bit disappointed it ended up on a stop-gap console rather than something really next gen. Still, I'm glad it's getting a sequel. I was afraid Sega would hold onto the Bayonetta name once Platinum's stint with them was over.

I'm not convinced this is really great news, mainly for two reasons:

First off, Kamiya isn't going to be directing it, and might not even be involved.

Secondly, Nintendo is publishing it, which means there's a possibility they're going to tone down some of the more extreme elements in Bayonetta, especially, I would imagine, the sexuality.

Saw this on GAF and my jaw just dropped. I want this but I don't want a WiiU. I might be at a cross road if some decent IPs come out for this console.

I don't see Bayonetta selling well on the Wii U. Nowhere near as well as if it was multiplatform. I hope Nintendo paid Platinum a lot of money, they need it.

So Platinum Games is working on Metal Gear, The Wonderful 101, and Bayonetta 2? I thought they were a pretty small team?
I guess this is good news for the people already wanting to get a Wii U. Not so sure if this is great news for those just wanting a new Bayonetta game though.

This is sad news, i dont want a wiiu and i still dont want one. This game is gonna sell like shit, even worst than the first game because its an exclusive on a 1/2 next gen system. Nintendo fans dont give a shit about games like bayonetta, its not why they buy nintendo consoles. Would of been better if it was multi platform but ohh well, im guessing brad will get a wiiu now for the p100 game and bayonetta2. Looks like platnium games and ubisoft is supporting the wiiu pretty well, but i still havent seen the online infrastructure and the premium service sounds like a joke. Also i heard an extra tablet costs like 100 bucks...

Making it a Wii U exclusive is so stupid why not just put it on all systems? The original was on both PS3 and Xbox360. Since Hideki Kamiya is not working on this one it'll probably suck or become overshadowed by the original. This news is very disappointing.

Guys. It's being SUPERVISED by Hideki Kamiya. Try not to worry too much.

But I'm also wondering how much control Sega has over this title.

Didn't care for Bayonetta in the first place. Although I do see it being pretty stupid to make it a Wii U exclusive.

This has convinced me to go nowhere near the console. I loved the first game, but this kind of bs is what drove me away from Nintendo to begin with when Capcom pulled this shit with Resident Evil.

When I heard it was going to be on one console, I thought maybe Xbox. Wii U? Really? What are they thinking!?!?!

hnnnnggggggg.... either way it's bayonetta 2 so it's pretty much a console seller for me. that being said, of course it's a bad idea for it to be a wiiU exclusive but P* has proven to be a well manged studio imo so i can at least hold faith in them (is it too late to hope for a translation error?). as for the whole lords of shadows comparison... keep in mind that were still talking about a studio with actual talent here

Have to be completely honest when I say I did not see that coming. Hopefully this works in their favour, say what you want about Nintendo but the last thing I want to see is another game company tank.

Nintendo better be good at knife throwing cause this is very dodgy.
When I see the Trailer for this and get some more insight then I'll start considering getting a Wii-U. I pretty much haven't touched my Wii in months, so maybe I'll wait a few months till the inevitable price drop.
