Technical Issues Continue to Hamper the Release of Dawnguard for the PS3

Bethesda has confessed in a recent post on their official forum that Dawnguard, the first piece of DLC for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, may never reach the PS3 due to technical issues.

The post reads:

Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

PS3 owners seem to be getting a pretty crappy deal when it comes to Skyrim. The PS3 version of the game itself has come under fire for its crippling frame rate issues, which were apparently due to the console's divided memory pool. Then the Dawnguard DLC was continually delayed for the PS3, and now Playstation owners may find themselves unable to play it at all.

This isn't to say that PS3 owners will definitely never get to play Dawnguard. The question is, if the problems turn out to be unfixable, would you rather see a buggy Dawnguard, or no Dawnguard at all? Regardless, it's admirable to see that Bethesda are so devoted to quality control. As we know, they always make sure that the finished product is as functionally watertight as it can possibly be.

Oh wait...

If there was one universal game system, this wouldnt be an issue now would it?

Wasn't New Vegas handed off to someone not-Bethesda?

Hopefully they get Dawnguard fixed. Q___Q

I'm sure there wasn't much to miss out on regardless. If I recall correctly, Oblivion didn't see all of it's DLC released on the PS3 either. The language I'm gathering here is "This is taking too long to polish up properly, we're moving on to our next project instead. Sorry." Anyone remember a certain glitchy quest that -also- involved vampires on the PS3 version of Oblivion which, coincidentally, was never patched?

I don't think that there's any question that this will put a bigger strain on Beth's relations with their Sony fanbase. They've been brewing a PR shitstorm in a bottle with them for a while now with each release.

While the Xbox players don't get the badly needed SH Collection patch that PS3 players do.

It's all pretty screwed up and frustrating.
