E3 2012: Journey Collectors Edition Quietly Hinted at Sony Press Conference

The Sony Press Conference was a bit bland this year. They opened and closed strong but a lot of what filled the void in between was middling at best. While I was blown away by Beyond, The Last of Us, and the impressive naval combat debut in Assassins Creed 3, it was this little nugget of news that made the conference totally worth it for me. As I was leaving the conference hall, I snapped this photo of a standee that lined the hallway at the exit:

Strangely enough, the collectors edition was not mentioned at all during the conference but was featured briefly in an E3 Sony sizzle reel that was played during the conference. Since the details are not official, I can merely speculate but it appears as though the trilogy of games that arose from the partnership between Sony and ThatGameCompany will be bundled together on a blu-ray disc next year.

I am one of many who violently oppose the transition to a complete digital future so the chance to own Flower on a disc along with two other impressive titles is great news. Of course, a lot of this is speculation until Sony decides to officially unveil the package so stay tuned for updates in the near future. In the meantime, if you have no yet played Journey, Flower, or Flow... don't play them. Wait until they release at retail and play them on a disc!
