Dust 514, CCP's EVE-Online interacting shooter, is coming along and we've had a chance to play some of it on the show floor at E3. First impressions are that it's a standard shooter that uses a currency system to fit kits, order supplies and do pretty much everything. Mechanics wise...it leaves a lot to be desired at this point.  Some of the shooting feels very light and the sound design still seems to need a lot of work.

Still, it was fun playing with people and the ability to call in reinforcing vehicles when you need it is fun tactically. Also, it's a bit heard to get a sense of the scope Dust 514 will offer until it's locked into the Eve Online counterpart. If you want a chance to help the development of the game along, you can always join the beta.

Take a look at the video below and tell us what you think?

Looks very battlefield ish mixed with like halo maybe. it looks very much like an fps, but the large scale battles might make it a little more interesting, not to mention the tie-in with Eve-online

I don't know it seeks like another generic FPS but then again I have never really played and FPSMMO so it may turn out to be more fun that I expect.

Everything about me wants to love this game and wishes that it would become the next big shooter. Unfortunately, I'm also realizing that shooters aren't all that easy to make, and whatever team making this game is very inexperienced in this fine art. Even the most miniscule details need to work flawlessly in a shooter, or else it just won't be able to stand up against the already proven giants of the shooter market.

    I guess.. we'll see.

Even though I'm a bit underwhelmed at this point because of how many shooters are in the market, I'm still intrigued to find out more!

Still excited for this game, so hopefully these issues will be smoothed out in the Beta. I just love is that your loyalty is only to your Corp and sometimes not even that.
