Last year Netherrealm Studios, Ed Boon's creation after the closure of Midway Games, put out Mortal Kombat, essentially the ninth title in the series, which was lauded with rave reviews and was, for the first time in years, a worthy sequel.  Two years prior however his team released a title that was both intriguing and, ultimately, a detriment to the core Mortal Kombat universe: Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe.  The game may have played well but the nature of removing fatalities and dumbing down the experience so that they can be in compliance with DC's policies about character death and such was really a let down for me at least.

Netherrealm seems to think that they should try again however as Warner Bros Interactive announced today a psuedo-sequel entitled Injustice: Gods Among Us.  Save for the exclusion of the Mortal Kombat characters, the game looks to be like a darker version of the 2008 title I described above.  Whether it proves to be a worthy successor or not has yet to be determined.

We'll keep you updated as more develops.

It could be decent, I know people were upset about the "No Death" thing, but given this would be (assumedly) a DC Characters Only Venture, the No Death thing would still work out, but have the ability to have alot of interesting additions, that wouldnt easily fit in the MK Universe.
