When Skyrim update  1.5.26 was recently released those on Bethesda's official forum went to work picking it apart. Treating it like a dungeon located far outside Windhelm, they skulked through various folders in the hope of getting their adventurous fingers on its most delicate of bits.  And what do you know? Treasure they did find.

Tucked away within the update a folder named "'DLC01" they've discovered which seems to be additional assets that, if the name is any indication, are for the first Skyrim DLC. Included are assets for Snow Elves, a Snow Elf Queen, new Vampire animations and...Crossbows.

I love crossbows and I've been hoping to see them in Skyrim for quite some time. You can imagine my disappointment when they weren't included in the original game, but now those feelings are ones of exultation.  I just want to dance naked on a pool table to Rocket Man for the rest of the day.

Other than this asset find, there is no other information available for this upcoming DLC other than a trademark filing for the name Dawnguard filed by Zenimax last month. VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, Pete Hines, has said that he is on the case, and is currently trying to get us more info. (read: He knows but isn't allowed to say anything yet)

They seriously need to announce the DLC already. That is all I need to get back into Skyrim.

How can people keep playing and talking about this game over and over? I've finished it (completed almost all of the main plot and side quest content) and simply can't look at it any more, no matter how many mods and DLCs (arrghh) you stuff into it. Anything short of a total conversion won't resurrect the game for me, especially given how tightly the game is woven with the dragon-related plot I'm tired of beneath description.

I don't know why crossbows are so hyped, they'd act much like bows in a real mechanical way. I'd much rather spears or a new movement skill ( a merging of acrobatics and athletics, like I've mentioned before)

I like that they're adding in a new weapon type, that's something they've never done in an official Elder Scrolls DLC yet.

    they fuck up!!
if they add crossbows skyrim will turn on more like a shooter, i can picture all youtube doing 360 no scope heatshots with a damn crossbow, picture the crossbow from half life 2 while you playing fallout 3, it is more easy cause some weapons on fallout 3 have the same moves or work the same way, just do that, now that you've got it, picture doing that on skyrim
    it fucking ruin everything
