Those of us hopping for a new console announcement this year at E3 have had that dream smashed to bits over the past few months, with Microsoft and Sony showed a rare joining of the forces to squash any of those expectations. So what will we see?

According to The Verge, Microsoft will be showing off a host of new Xbox applications and content, including a new music service. The new music service will work across all windows platforms (including phones and Windows OS) and will be replacing Zune as the new Microsoft music service.

Zune has been floundering for some time, and my inside sources at Micrsoft have been telling me that Zune's been on the proverbial chopping block for awhile now.  Hopefully this new service will be able to provide what Zune was missing. And please, for f&*cks sake...let me play video from my dashboard without having to load another application.

Seriously it gets rather tedious having to go from app to app only to have said apps take ages in loading time to boot up

Zune was a great alternative to itunes. Its a shame it never really caught on, I hope the this new service will be good, easy to use, and not have a generic name like "Microsoft music" or some stupid shit.

if they introduced a pandora-esc service that could run in the background while you played games, I would actually use it. Doubt it will happen though.
