It's a tune we're used to singing, and like the American divorce rate you can bet a pound of nickles that there's at least a 50% chance that your favorite game is going to be bogged down in a swamp of delays.

Today this has happened to Darsiders 2, which is now being delayed from its original June 29th release date to August.

Word of the delay was spread via the Official Darsiders forum  by THQ's community manager Mathew Everett: "The rumor-mill has been churning with speculation recently, so we wanted to put it to rest first here with our core fans:" he posted. "Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced."

"This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience."

So it seems that Darksiders 2 just needs a little more time in the oven before it's ready for the world. Good on Vigil, and especially THQ, for taking the extra time to get it just right.

I'm glad to see THQ learned their lesson with Red Faction: Armageddon, though I doubt extra development time would have done anything other than convinced the team that their game was doomed for failure.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I mean, it's great that they are taking more time to polish the game and make it ready for launch but I was so looking forward to this game coming out in June right around my birthday. One of my most anticipated games this year.

Great. Means I have more time in which to gather the cash. Already have to pay off the Assassins Creed III and Resident Evil 6 pre-orders. Also I wanted to pick up Anarchy Reigns when it comes out.

Let's be honest here, what can they really do in 2 months that would make much of a difference?

It takes time to wrap the game up and ship it global... I'm guessing that would take a few weeks to finalize?

So, how much work are they actually going to get done?
