Lost Planet was a franchise that I had thought was left to the sands of time, forever, well, lost.  Capcom evidently thought otherwise as a third entry in the series has been announced.  In development over at Sparks Unlimited, the development team behind Legendary and Turning Point, the game stars a man named Jim, a rig pilot who comes to EDN III to take on a dangerous contract.

Other than the cinematic trailer and the 2013 release date, very little is known about the game at this point.  Sparks Unlimited may not have the best reputation at the moment but I'd be willing to bet that the Lost Planet formula isn't too hard to figure out.

Wuhwuhwuh.. Capcom gave their series to the shittiest developer out there? Surely, there must have been a better choice somewhere along the line. The guys who made Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. I could thing of no better developer to drive the Lost Planet series straight into the ground.

This... I'm not sure how I feel about what they are trying to do with Lost Planet in this trailer. Its only a teaser really so I wont tear it apart at this point. Trailer is pretty, sure, but I look forward to seeing more detail of what this will have to offer besides bigger mechs. Though tbh, Lost Planet has always been about the multiplayer for me, being my very first game to play really when my first 360 came with the online demo installed, and having played the HELL out of it.

So yeah, definitely looking forward to seeing more about this, whenever that may be.

I'll say this. It was a very pretty trailer.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, fuck me up the ass.

Lost Planet 2 really lacked what I had hoped for. The biggest reason I bought it was the boss battles against enemies thousands of times larger than yourself. Also, not sure if I had assumed it or they promised but failed to deliver, I heard of a multiplayer mode where you and your friends could select a boss to fight together. Didn't see one, total disappointment.

Literally the last time I played it was with David and Corvus on the feed.

Was a fan of the first game but eventually traded it into gamestop (and got ripped off BIG time). Never got around to the second game due to the trailers showing a game that put the player into a "Bioshock 2" situation; the player knows the setting and want more or they're new to the series and are given a game that feels like it's trying to be like it's predecessor.

Now with this trailer, my interest is back. The character is a change from the anime style I thought was with the first game to a more "American" style, if you catch my drift. Not enough details to really make more of a statement on what could be besides the bigger mech stuff but I will say that I have a strange feeling that Kinect will, sadly, be a part of the game. The fight with the "boss" puts an emphasis on the character being in control of the mech but not as if it were a part of the action but more as a showing of what the player will do (because ultimately, you are the character) without having some goofy one-time actor standing in front of a T.V.
