Last week we brought you the first pictures of Assassin's Creed III and now, after a long countdown timer set to end just before GDC 2012 kicks off, the first cinematic trailer has been revealed.  And yes, for those fans like myself who have longed to see the series actually leave urban areas for the wilderness you will be very satisfied.

Hmm, it will finally be nice to see a revolutionary war fight done well in a video game, but this trailer was pretty underwhelming.

So far, so assassiny, I have to say I'm looking forward to the possibility of exploring snow-covered forests instead of yet another yellowish city.

I have to say though, I hope this doesn't end up focusing too much on the whole national pride thing; as a non-American, this isn't something I've ever been able to get behind.

Going to the wilderness is nice and all, but a set of trees that happen to be positioned to the point were you can jump from branch to branch quickly is so contrived! Am I supposed to believe it's possible? I know the series isn't exactly grounded but it's pushing its limits. Jump between rooftops and off awnings and plant hangers is at least conceivable, but tree to tree? Now I am not poo pooing to the point of hating it, I'll wait until I see actual gameplay, I'm just saying I am worried. Plus how's multiplayer gonna work? That's the only thing that matters anyway right?

I'm not up for a America fuck yeah setting... But this is what the series needed. A drastic change

I dont think enough people realize this shift to the Americas was inevitable. After all, Desmond is definitely from America so SOMEONE from his ancestry had to of come to the US at some point.

    My observations.

The coat that the main character is wearing is part of the standard uniform of the 18th century French Army. Which leads me to believe that some portion of the game may take place during the French-Indian War. Oh, and the battle at the end of the trailer is either The Battle of Saratoga or the Battle of Trenton. Most likely its Saratoga, because Trenton occurred in 1776. Though it was Christmas day, so I could understand if they scew the date by 15 days.

I would find it more interesting if you were to play a character on the losing side of the war; always being on the winning side is a very over told story. Granted we don't know much about what "side" the main character is on (given he's killing redcoats we can assume he's not with Britain), but that doesn't mean America will welcome him with open arms.

This game looks so good. I played AC Revelations and skipped Brotherhood, my interest in this series went up after Revelations. Seeing what AC3 is looking like, my interest just shot up to the roof, I cannot wait for this game to come out.

All your assumptions have pretty much been answered, the new character's name has been revealed as well. Long list of details released... http://bit.ly/Aq0JkJ

Though this trailer doesn't get me hyped at all, I'm wanting gameplay trailers!

So far my favorite thing is the his axe head is shaped like the Assassin's Creed A. I love little details like that.

Not a big fan of the series but this setting could be really interesting. If i can cross the Delaware with Washington I'm getting it.

I was reading that when playing multilayer as British-American, you can win by sending smallpox blankets to your opponent.
