Amazingly Adorable: The Love Letter

I didn’t get the chance to play this yesterday on Valentine’s Day but The Love Letter is one of the most adorable games ever. As the most popular boy in school, you must run around the halls trying to hide from people who want to speak to you. The letter stipulates that you must read it alone and before the 2nd period bell (placing a five minute timer on getting through the letter).

Playing through it is just wonderful. The classmates will constantly run up to you, starting conversation with short text bubbles like “Sup” and you can see them having conversations with different emoticons. It is fun trying to dart away from them--trying to figure out what is the best path to cut off their line of sight. But it is the moment when you finally get alone and start to read the letter that sells it: the words slowly scroll on the screen as you hold down the mouse button, a familiar tune starts to play, details of your secret admirer start to flow in, and there is a humorous tension as classmates wander closer, forcing you to stop reading and find another hiding spot.

It would be nice to be able to pick the gender roles, but outside of that, The Love Letter is just completely endearing. It’s a game you must play.
