CDProjekt RED, the developers behind last years wildly successful PC RPG, The Witcher 2 (and previously 'The Witcher'), are finally ready to shed light on the Xbox 360 version of the game. For an RPG to release in the same year as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and receive accolades from so many publications is unprecedented. Thankfully, 2012 will be the year that console players will be able to experience one of the best western RPG's in years.

It was announced today that the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 will launch in North America on April 17, 2012 and will feature close to 4+ hours of additional content that wasn't featured in the PC version. CDProjekt was also sure to stress that the Xbox 360 version would be more of an adaptation than a simple port. While visual fidelity may suffer a little bit during the transition, the controls and game systems have been reworked to ensure that they are optimized for the console.

The Witcher 2 has been on my radar for a long time and until now, my lack of a gaming PC has kept me from this example of RPG greatness. Q1 2012 is already rather full but I suggest that RPG fans set aside some time because i'm sure The Witcher 2 will make some lists at the end of the year. In the mean time, check out the announcement trailer and the newly released, completely original opening cinematic for the 360 version of the game. Enjoy!

Is this coming to PS3 as well at all, or just 360?

    Just 360.
I have the Limited Edition for PC, gotta get around to properly playing it instead of just bits and pieces.

The graphics don't look to bad - considering how low-tech the 360 is now and how graphically intensive The Witcher 2 is it looks like they've done a pretty good job of porting it. CD Projekt continually impresses me with how well they treat their customers and how hard they work towards making their games as stellar as possible.

For those wondering, on the same date as the release of the Witcher 2 on the 360, those who have purchased Witcher 2 on the PC will receive the update for the Enhanced Edition of the Witcher 2. This will include the additional cinematics, characters, quests and locations the 360 version will include. So, no one misses out on the extra content.

Adding to Soulglove's post: If you ordered from Gog.com you're also getting some new bonus content (fairly sure it's The Witcher comic) Not bad getting more free things for a game you already own.

Very excited to take on the new quests already.

The one great game I missed of last year I am not going to miss a second time! Didn't buy it on PC as I wouldn't have finished it but on 360 it's easier to get addicted on the big telly.
